A Note on This Beer
Imagine biting into a ripe peach in the middle of a dry, summer day – now imagine biting into 700 pounds of this orchard fresh fruit.
This feeling is captured – literally – in Peche Mode Belgian Style Sour Ale, a revered seasonal treat from the Pacific Northwest fruit experts: Double Mountain Brewery.
Known for their outstanding Devil’s and Tahoma Krieks, the brewery weaves a juicy arsenal of two distinct varieties of Washington peaches and earthy Brettanomyces yeast into Peche Mode. Nine months of aging suffuses white wine elegance with notes of bright, funky tartness to the tune of 8.4% ABV.
After mashing the stone fruit into a pulp, these award-winning brewmasters send it straight to the fermenter. Here the raw peaches come into full contact with the Belgian Strong Ale base and renegade wild yeast. This methodical undertaking brings the best fruit aromas and flavor forward, preserving the delicate microflora emanating from every succulent peach.
Peche Mode vibrates on the tongue with farmhouse complexity and a pleasant acidic tang reminiscent of a Peach Bellini. The fruit is so alive in the beer, you can almost feel the delicate fuzz of the skin. Pour this summer elixir into a flute glass to replace your weekend mimosa. Or, weekday mimosa …
