About This Beer
This brew is a Gotlandsdricka. These smoked ales are believed to be the beers of the vikings! So naturally, the Old Irving crew teamed up with friends at Hammerheart Brewing in Minnesota — a place that knows a thing or two about vikings.
The duo started with a crisp, refreshing base brewed with delicately smoked malt and fermented with Kviek yeast. And they conditioned it on juniper and spruce tips for an intricate, botanical brightness.
Tasting Notes
Notes of toasted brioche drizzled in golden honey swirl with estery tones of banana and apple. Verdant spruce nuances and a subtle smoke carry on the end before a snappy finish.

Mostly just malty in the nose. Maybe a tiny bit of smoke with a lingering caramel bitterness on the palate. Not quite as big or intense as I was expecting.
