Full disclosure: I spend the whole week looking forward to Saturday.
That’s when my spouse and I can sleep in to our hearts’ content. Once we feel the pull of the late morning sunshine, we’ll stroll lazily into the kitchen for a hot cup of coffee and some homemade brunch.
Today’s aptly named Wake Up Late Imperial Coffee Stout from Junkyard Brewing combines all of the scents and flavors of Saturday morning, and rolls them up into a boozy, full-bodied, 9.8% ABV package.
The brewers at Junkyard dosed it generously with maple syrup, conditioned it on Madagascar vanilla beans, and finished it on Stumbeanos espresso roast coffee from nearby Fergus Falls, MN. It tastes like pairing a creamy iced mocha with maple syrup-laden French toast.
@Morgan M. declares that it’s “Still one of my favorite beers, ever.” And @Cami C. raves that it’s got a “perfect balance of coffee and caramel notes.”
As much as I love sleeping in, I might have to set my alarm early to heed the wake-up call of this velvety Stout — especially since there are only 448 cans to go around, and you know what they say about the early bird.
