About This Beer
To craft this showstopper, the duo started with Anchorage’s signature Double Dark Ale, this one aged an immense 51 months in Willet rye and 15-Year 1792 Calumet Farms barrels — that’s over four years in oak! Then they blended it with Side Project’s Double Barrel Anabasis Barleywine, aged 24 months in Blanton’s and Weller 7-Year barrels.
Tasting Notes
We haven’t had the pleasure of trying this beauty yet, but we’re anticipating sumptuous aromas of bourbon toffee and dark fruit perfuming the air with every luxuriously thick pour. On the sip, look for gooey bread pudding flavors with hints of raisin and baking spice to carry into nuances of caramelly espresso and vanilla custard. Woody spice should linger on the finish, the only indication of the bold 17.4% ABV.
