About This Beer
Evil Twin NYC got together with their Upstate buddies from Root & Branch to create today’s Triple IPA. The duo started with a creamy body brewed with a boatload of Anchovy Hops, then double dry hopped it with heaping helpings of Citra.
Tasting Notes
Each sip bursts on your palate in a lush wave of tropical tones. Splashes of guava, Starburst, and mango swirl into brilliant pops of zesty citrus. Pine and pith garnish the gulp, making this juicy brew so dangerously delicious you might want dozens of ‘em.

Paired with some Xiao Long Bao.
Cold, this actually tastes somewhat like anchovies, which I suspect is mostly placebo from the hop name (Anchovy hops don't taste like anchovies). But in general -- the herbal and bitter characteristics came out more than any citrus or tropical aspects.
As this warmed it became much more citrusy. Yet both cold and warmer, it resembled a DIPA more than a triple. I didn't get the high alcohol, sweet, complex character I was expecting. And I didn't feel like it paired particularly well with my Xiao Long Bao.
Disappointing.
