A Note on This Beer
It’s true what Jim Morrison said: “people are strange, when you’re a stranger.”
But, show up anywhere with a couple of cans of When You’re Strange, and everyone will treat you like an old friend. They might only be acting nice because they’re after a sip of this crisp and tangy, 10% ABV Apricot Saison, but who cares?
Besides, once you explain how much time and energy the brewers at Anchorage put into it, they’ll be so impressed that they’ll want to be friends for real!
This strange brew started with a slow, natural fermentation in one of Anchorage’s French Oak Foeders, creating tangy notes of lemon grass. Then, the brewers added a touch of Brettanomyces — a special yeast that brings a whisper of funky complexity to the brew. Next, they conditioned it in Chardonnay barrels for 18 months, adding notes of oak and vinous pops of snappy green grape.
Finally, they rested the beer on apricots for another 4 months, infusing the Ale with a gentle caress of bright stone-fruity flavors and a hint of jammy sweetness.
Pop open the top, and you’ll find a bright, crisp, fruity, and refreshing Saison that any fan of the style will eagerly share. But be warned: the massive ABV towers above all normal Saisons!
Enjoy When You’re Strange at your next get-together, and you’re practically guaranteed to make a few friends! And they’ll all remember your name, even if you ARE a little strange.
