A Note on This Beer
Did you know that cakes have been round since ancient days? The trendsetters of yore modeled them after the sun and moon.
Now, the innovators at Brouwerij West are moving a new trend forward — the cake beer! This California crew used so many dessert ingredients in today’s Imperial Pastry Stout, it’ll make all the bakers jealous!
Starting with a base beer of dark, chocolatey malts, the brewers added “everyone's favorite hazelnut chocolate spread,” and loads of richly flavorful Wild Thai bananas. Then, they layered in hazelnuts and cacao nibs, and it still wasn’t enough! Those crafty beer chefs piled in doses of vanilla AND vanilla cookies to finish off their drinkable confection.
And my-oh-my, is it drinkable. Sporting a massively buzzing 15% ABV, this Stout offers decadent flavors of a banana split topped with vanilla cake and hazelnut brownie crumbles. Yum!
I would say this beer is meant for sharing because of the booze level, but who are we kidding — one luscious mouthful, and you’re going to want to horde this Pastry delight to yourself.
Though, if anyone does come by and asks Why Are Cakes Round? Well, now you know.
