About This Beer
According to the folks at Resident Culture, dark beer fans and crispy boi chuggers can find common ground with this Baltic Porter.
Confused? Then it’s time to learn a little something about the style!
Here’s the quick and dirty version: basically English brewers started shipping their dark beers into eastern Europe via ports on the Baltic Sea. The brewers there wanted to create their own versions of these beers, but they strongly favored cold fermenting Lager yeasts, so they kept brewing in that style but switched to dark-roasted grains and higher ABVs.
So Baltic Porters are basically big, burly Stouts, but they’re brewed like Lagers!
Tasting Notes
Willful Blindness has all the big, roasty, malty flavors you’d expect from a Porter, but with the light, crisp, crushable finish of a Lager. It’s a true-to-style rendition of one of the oldest ‘hybrid’ beers around!
