How many of your favorite breweries would go to the ends of the earth to craft an impeccable Barrel-Aged beer?

Today’s Wizard Burial Ground is literally banished to the empty shafts of a gypsum mine, 85 feet below the surface of the earth! There, it quietly slumbers in Bourbon Barrels for 12 months. 

Then, as if summoned by a sorcerer’s spell, the time comes and the Bourbon Barrel-Aged Quad is awakened! 

At that moment, the ground above begins to tremble beneath the rumbling hordes of craft fans as they march to Grand Rapids for this rich, whiskey-drenched feast. 

It’s heralded as the #25 Quad in the World on BeerAdvocate; it pulls a commanding 4.13 on Untappd from over 10k+ fans; you’ll even see Canadians driving 400+ miles just to be there for its release!

Even the lucky few fans to have witnessed this year’s revival are giving Wizard Burial Ground 2019 an unconscionable 4.44 UT rating! It only gets this kind of acclaim because it deserves it. 

Taking those barrels underground ensures greater temperature control for the beer, with less air impurities than temp-controlled rooms above ground. This affects how the beer interacts with the elements of the barrel and allows the Quad to better pull those notes of bourbon, vanilla, and charcoal from the oak without the meddling of sneaky bacteria or fluctuating temps. 

The bottom line: No beer on Earth is quite like Wizard Burial Ground.

On the first sip, sticky toffee and boozy dates meld with otherworldly butterscotch tones. Another swallow brings plums, brown sugar, and a wisp of vanilla oak from the barrels. Wizard Burial Ground’s alchemy of powerful flavors remains etched on the palate long after the final drop is gone.
