A Note on This Beer
Last year, at Firestone Walker’s 23rd anniversary party, the brewers celebrated in style. Throngs of craft beer enthusiasts enjoyed sunny weather, live music, carnival games, and a wide selection of sought-after, barrel-aged brews.
But, the real star of the show was a blend the brewery released that very day — XXIII Anniversary Ale.
To make it, the brewers invited local winemakers to visit the central coast California brewery, sample all their small-batch brews, and lend their blending expertise.
Together, they experimented with different combinations of flavors, until they found a decadent blend of six different Firestone Walker beers.
Here’s the breakdown:
- 28% Stickee Monkee — a sweet and malty Central Coast Quad* brewed with Mexican Turbinado sugar
- 28% Parabola and 5% Velvet Merkin — two bold, espresso-laden Stouts
- 20% Bravo — an earthy and resinous Brown Ale
- 15% Helldorado Bourbon Barrel and 4% Tequila Barrel — Blond Barleywines with notes of vanilla and raisins
The result? A 4.32-UT Rated Strong American Ale soaked in toffee-caramel decadence. And, now that it’s been cellaring for a year, it has smoother, deeper flavors than ever before.
If this sounds like your kind of blend, grab it quick! It’s a limited release!
*Firestone Walker invented a new beer style when they debuted Stickee Monkee several years ago. The “Central Coast Quad” is inspired by Belgian Quadruple Ales and aged in Bourbon Barrels!
