A Note on This Beer

“Holy s***. So good. This is the Z from back in the day. This is what kept us driving four hours round trip. The sound of growlers clinking.” @Marc M.

As you can see, today’s ZeeLander IPA is a Toppling Goliath classic — a staple for true devotees. Fans vie for this juicy, single-hop IPA any chance they get.

If you’ve been with Tavour a while, you’ve probably been able to snag some of Toppling Goliath’s other coveted brews. But, we’ve only had ZeeLander once before, and it completely sold out in less than 24 hours!!

Featuring 100% Nelson Sauvin Hops from New Zealand, this tang-tastic brew bursts with a delightfully crisp and floral flavor, absolutely drenched in citrus notes. Pink grapefruit, mandarin orange, and hints of juicy pineapple lead the charge. Earthy flavors of fresh-cut grass and cannabis creep in at the end to round out the dry finish.

Right now is your ticket to join an elite class of craft fans — those who’ve had ZeeLander (versus those who have not).

Rated 4.18 on Tavour; 96/100 on BeerAdvocate

Tastes heavy hops without much grapefruit or mandarin orange flavor. With only the 6.2% alcohol I was expecting a smoother flavor.

Juicy!! Definitely has a citrusy orange and grapefruit up front but a nice crisp beer from this style in my opinion. Very drinkable! I am a long time lover of IPA's. A bit new to the New England, hazy scene, but I'm learning there are some really good beers in this category! I still love me a real hoppy true West Coast IPA or double IPA or triple......but whatever category we want to put this one in it is an awesome drinker! There is definitely some good stuff over here on this side, but so far this has been my favorite " hazy"! If you think IPA's are too bitter for you, I would suggest trying this and you will at least be a convert to the hazy / juicy New England IPA style! PROST!

I get straight cannabis on the nose. Complex flavors - pine, floral, grapefruit pith.

Pretty middle of the road. Good mouth feel, not a lot of depth flavor wise. Could be a bit more balanced.

Daily corona battle. #CountryLyfeProbs box delivery edition. This has lotsa soft, earthy Nelson hops. Pithy with some lingering hop bite. TG does west coast.

Amazing example of what the Nelson hop can do. Disappointed I didn’t order more. One of the best beers I’ve had of 2020

12/18/20 Nelson for the win. Grapefruit and cut grass. Like a Sauvignon Blanc mimosa.

Would have been in my top -10-ever-beers were it not for the mouthfeel/body/pulpiness that comes with NEIPA. Much hazier than pictured, and should just be called a NEIPA; not a “base” IPA. Nelson Sauvin is abundantly clear on nose and on flavor. Unfortunately, the haze craze imparted the cliche pineapple and chalk, heavily subduing the traditional massive gooseberry and green wood of Nelson Savin for what’s usually contributed by Mosaic and Galaxy hops, particularly, high acid citrus. Malt to hop ratio is spot on. It’s just another unfortunate example of haze-catering ruins otherwise phenomenal beers. If it were brewed as a non-haze this would easily be a chart-topper. As is, it’s a slightly different iteration of the same old, same old
