Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it was also responsible for the birth of Gnarly Barley, one of the premier breweries of Louisiana. Intrigued by the brewing process after tasting some stellar craft beer, co-founder Zac tried his hand at homebrewing with the seemingly simple aim of crafting beer as good as those that had inspired him. He was beyond successful. In a garage, alongside a half-pipe and some fat family cats, Gnarly Barley was born. After a few years at homebrewer festivals honing their craft, Zac and his wife, Cari, officially opened the microbrewery and its skateboard-themed taproom. With its sterling beer and passion for craft, Gnarly Barley quickly became one of the Brewers Association’s fastest growing breweries in the country and was named The Beer Connoisseur’s Brewery of the Year in 2020.
