A Note on This Beer
When the crew at Ash & Elm Cider Co. makes their fall spiced seasonal, Autumntide, they don’t cut any corners. They use fresh-pressed juice from regionally-sourced apples, and cook their own spiced pumpkin mixture using the freshest ingredients they can find.
They even use whole spices for the recipe, which means filling a bag with cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice, then pulverizing it all with a mallet!
Sure, they could just buy something pre-made, but it wouldn’t capture the flavors of home-baked pie like Autumntide.
Co-founder Andrea Homoya (who opened the place in 2016 with her husband Aaron) says it’s like “taking a bite with a little bit of pumpkin pie and a little bit of apple pie at the same time.”
But outside of Indiana, this seasonal release is mighty hard to track down! The first batch drops in September, and the last batch sells out by Halloween — they only make it for two months! Of course, once the Cider seekers discover our little stash of Autumntide, it won’t last anywhere near that long.
Ash & Elm Cider Co. earned the #3 spot on Hoodline’s list of America’s 50 Favorite Cideries!
