A Note on This Beer
Citra-hopped IPAs are white-hot right now, thanks to the hop’s uncanny ability to impart quenching layers of orange and grapefruit flavors. But, IPAs hopped with Cryo Citra? Those delights are much more rare.
For the unfamiliar, Cryo is a concentrated hop powder that makes for extra-potent flavors and aromas. Basically, it allows for all the oil and resins (the stuff that makes hops so darn tasty) to be added straight to the beer without an onslaught of bitter, vegetal stuff. The result is super juice!
But, the proof’s in the pudding! Or in this case, it’s in Dare Mighty Things – Cryo Citra IPA. The New England-style IPA positively explodes with bright citrus aromas. On the tongue, flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, and orange flow vividly in a smooth body with supremely sippable, low bitterness.
It’s easy to think that The Brewing Projekt pulled a fast one and swapped out the beer for some fresh-squeezed juice. But hey, the fans say it best:
- “For cryo out loud that is good!” @Andrew G.
- “These would be my go-to hops. I’d be satisfied if I had access to this all year long.” @Derek M.
- “This one is good. Exuding citra aroma while poured and even from a distance. A decadent, malty mouthfeel throughout that goes down so smooth. So delicious and crushable!” @Tate
Time to make some room in the fridge!
