A Note on This Beer
All the Hops: This beast of a Pale is hopped-up more than most IPAs! First, the brewers used Mosaic and Simcoe, then they double dry-hopped it with even more Mosaic and Simcoe, PLUS super concentrated Cryo Hops of both varieties! Hazy Flavors: Thanks to all those juicy cones, every sip floods the taste buds with bold flavors of fresh-squeezed OJ, ruby red grapefruit, and freshly picked berries.
At last year’s Growler Mag Reader’s Choice Awards, Modist Brewing took home medals for New England Style IPA, Imperial IPA, Pale Ale, AND Specialty Grain Beer.
That’s why I absolutely HAD to pick up a stash of today’s DDH Double False Patterns Pale Ale. It puts this crew’s talents on full display!
First off, it’s a Hazy Pale — that’s two of the categories Modist won medals for, right there!
And at 7.5% ABV, it’s also an Imperial! But, you won’t taste any of that booze behind all the layers of citrusy flavor. It’s Modist’s ability to disguise big ABVs behind a wall of fruity deliciousness that earned them their Imperial IPA medal!
They also made it with plenty of flaked oats for a crazy-smooth mouthfeel. That’s a specialty grain — another category Modist medaled in! This crew can use all kinds of interesting grains thanks to their specialty grain filter — the first of its kind in the region.
One sip of this brew, and you’ll discover what Minnesota craft fans already know: Modist is one of the best breweries in the Midwest!
