A Note on This Beer
When Energy City announced the release of Double Hop Jon, it was like a birthday present to Illinois craft fans.
@nitemer708 could hardly contain his excitement — “[This is the] 5th, 6th or I don’t know how many weekends in a row you guys have made me drive about 80 miles round trip to get some deliciousness in a can!!!!”
That’s how hopheads in Chicagoland are when it comes to Energy City’s brews! Even PorchDrinking.com says if you “see an Energy City Brewing can available, do yourself a favor and grab it.”
Of course, you hardly need to lift a finger to get your hands on some Double Hop Jon today. Happy birthday to you!
The brewers dosed it with the Galaxy and Citra Hops from their most popular Pale Ale and the smooth malt bill of their sought-after DIPA. This combination leads to some seriously drinkable haze: loads of orange juicy flavor, notes of pineapple, a hint of tangy passionfruit, and a dollop of piney hop resin to seal the deal.
In the muggy Midwestern heat, this is just the kind of easy-drinking refreshment a hophead craves. And, with that sneaky 8.2% ABV lurking behind all this fruity hop nectar, downing a few cans might just inspire you to bust out the candles and sing Happy Birthday.
Which is totally fine! If Illinois craft fans get to celebrate two birthdays in one year, why shouldn’t you?
*Energy City boasts a rockin’ 4.13 brewery rating on Untappd — that’s higher than some of the biggest names in the Chicago craft scene!
