A Note on This Beer
I used to make fun of fancy latte people.
I’d walk into the cafe to order my usual (black coffee) and some Gucci-wearing person in front of me would be like, “Yeah . . . can I get a venti, extra-hot, half-caff oat milk latte with two pumps of vanilla, three pumps of hazelnut, and no foam?”
I’d roll my eyes as they also bought a scone for their (admittedly adorable) pure-bred chihuahua.
But, ever since I tried Casita’s Double Iced Latte IPA, things have changed. My eyes have been opened to the myriad of possibilities — not just in coffee, but in beer!
Casita’s creative beer-ristas hopped this Imperial IPA with Cashmere, Mosaic, and Columbus, and brewed it with oats, lactose, coffee, and vanilla.
At first, it tickles your nose with the aroma of freshly roasted coffee. Then, as you sip it, notes of juicy pears, soft apricots, and dank peaches rise to the forefront, followed by swirls of vanilla and another wave of coffee on the finish. It’s as smooth and easy-drinking as a creamy oat milk latte, and feels like sipping an expertly crafted Hazy in a high end coffee shop.
I’m not the only one who’s bellying up to the cafe counter for another cup! @Brian L. says, “This s*** is money!!” And @Rick H. shouts, “Damn, this is FIRE!”
I’d love to start the day with a can of this! But, since it weighs in at 8.5% ABV, I’ll probably wait till the weekend. Once I crack it open, I won’t hold back — I’m sipping it through a straw, pinky up!
