A Note on This Beer
Today’s Eagle Kriek from the World Beer Cup Gold Medalists at Washington’s Logsdon Farmhouse Ales might be the classiest bottle you’ll ever pop open on a picnic blanket.
With its bright cherry flavors and wild oaky complexity, this deeply layered Fruited Sour will make a basket of cheese, crackers, and salami feel like a 5-star meal!
To create it, the oak-aging experts at Logsdon first brewed a Belgian Style Sour Quad and aged it in Bourbon Barrels to accentuate notes of dried date and fig. Then, they crafted a Flanders-style Sour Red and aged it in French Oak, adding a flurry of woody vanilla to its folds of bold berry and plum flavors.
Finally, they combined the two beers with a bright and crisp Golden Farmhouse Ale, introducing notes of lemon zest and hints of farmhouse funk. And, as if that wasn’t enough, they let the finished blend referment on a pile of local cherries!
Allow a sip to sit on your tongue, and its deeply intricate nuances will unfold across the palate — dried fig and caramel swirl into vanilla and cherry as the brew slowly reveals itself.
Open this delectable bottle at a fancy, candlelit dinner, and it’ll feel right at home. But, in our opinion, it really shines when sipped barefoot on a blanket while basking in the summer sun.
