A Note on This Beer

Savoring today’s Liquid Swords 2019 Vintage is more memorable than seeing all 10 members of the Wu Tang Clan on stage at once!

  • It ain’t nothin’ to funk with because it comes from the newest Farmhouse Ale specialists to join us at Tavour, Maine’s Oxbow Brewing.

  • Hop Culture raves, Oxbow have established themselves as one of the most highly regarded and well-respected producers [of Farmhouse Ales] not just in the state, but their whole region!”

  • Liquid Swords is the brewery’s Grand Cru; a blend of the finest barrel-aged beers in their barrel room.

  • We have less than 200 bottles of today’s 2019 vintage that incorporates a select array of mixed-fermentation Farmhouse Ales aged in red wine and bourbon barrels.

The blend highlights notes of leather, toffee, lemon peel, and pepper with a bright acidity and a dry finish. One sip of these wild flavors can transport you to what Wu Tang would call, “a mental plane to spark the brain.”

Rated 4.13 on Untappd

*Wu Tang fans already know that this beer shares a name with GZA’s legendary second album!

It’s just a bit too heavy for a saison. Malty, which is fine if that’s what I’m expecting. But it certainly wasn’t. Not a bad taste, has a definite spice to it, but just...disappointing.

Gatorade, glacier frost. Apple cider vinegar. Coriander. Dog biscuits. Oxbow, GZA is coming for you. Fishscale, Grandmasters tonight to right this wrong.

This farmhouse ale runs 7.5% and boasts aromatics of leather, cologne esters and cabernet! Wow! Tight lacing on the head and pours a deep rich burgundy. Sips crisp and tart... notes of red wine, leather, flashes of acidity and lemon zest... cracked pepper...delicious! This is actually a grand cru with less than 200 bottles in existence and has been in my personal cellar since the spring of 2019! The blend of barrel aged beers used in this one comes together seamlessly now and well worth the wait! Finishes like red cedar! Beautiful! The perfect beer to initiate my new diamond rating system! 🥰🍻 💎💎💎💎💎
