A couple guys with a perfectionist passion for beer decided to start their own brewery. They thought it’d be hilariously ironic if they called it “Gigantic” because they expected only a tiny, hyper-local few would buy their small-batch, experimental, and rather unique style of IPAs. But hell, they were gonna do their way or no way.

Flash-forward seven years and Gigantic Brewing is HUGE in the Northwest hop game! Their willingness to break the mold and try something different has led to award-winning IPAs, like Pipewrench Gin Barrel-Aged IPA. You read that right -- a barrel-aged, GIN, IPA. The bright, subtly drying effect of top-shelf Ransom Old Tom Gin barrels accentuate the hops’ flavors and give it a unique botanical bite.

The Best of Craft Beer Awards and Oregon Beer Awards judges were baffled and delighted by Pipewrench’s citrus and juniper kick, earning Gigantic big wins and edging out big name Oregon hop masters like Deschutes, pFriem, and Great Notion. And when we tasted it, we knew we had to share it.

Thanks to breweries like Gigantic and their out-of-the-ordinary IPAs like Pipewrench, Portland, Oregon has become known as a place where beer innovation ain’t no pipe dream.
