About This Beer
Neil Glausier, head brewer at Burgh’ers, is all about the details. More than a decade as an avionics engineer in the military will do that — you can’t really wing it when it comes to jets.
Fortunately, that kind of meticulous approach is exactly what it takes to create a killer Schwarzbier like Puddler. And Glausier is seriously committed to the process.
The dude uses a reverse osmosis system to achieve the ideal minerality in his brew water, he adheres to exacting temperature controls, he even cultivates his own yeast strains because the commercial stuff simply wasn’t good enough for him.
And when you taste this Shwarzbier, you will understand exactly why he goes to such lengths.
Tasting Notes
This Dark Lager is almost impossibly crisp and smooth, with a mildly roasty coffee character that quickly gives way to notes of cocoa and toffee. A touch of bitterness from a carefully controlled addition of Hallertau Tradition Hops comes through towards the end, giving the finish a floral, slightly spicy quality, with an earthy complexity.
