A Note on This Beer
There’s a reason Washington State’s craft fans are turning their eyes South to Washougal. Logsdon Farmhouse Ales puts this tiny town on the map for their wild and funky brews, not to mention stacks of GABF and World Beer Cup medals!
Today, we’re lucky enough to share some cans of their Raspberry Classique Saison (2020). It sounds fancy because it is.
To craft it, the brewers selected a blend of Saisons, partially aged in 2nd generation oak barrels that previously held their Eagles Rest Bourbon Barrel-aged Kriek.
Then, Logsdon refermented the Saison blend with a smooth base beer of Pilsner malt, wheat, and oats. And yes, as the name suggests, they refermented it on juicy doses of raspberries!
Crack open a can, and pour it into a glass to let all the nuances of this impeccable Saison really open up. Every sip kisses the palate with jammy-tart berry character, rounded out with notes of earthy yeast, citrus, and just a whisper of oaky bourbon.
While a fancy setting isn’t required to enjoy this masterful brew, we recommend saving it for an occasion with few distractions. You’re going to want to devote as much time as possible to this one!
