Last Thanksgiving, I was in charge of the ice cream.

What can I say? In years prior, I made some pretty atrocious side-dishes that NOBODY touched. Still, finding the perfect frozen-treat that’ll pair seamlessly with my brother’s famous “Slice Slice Baby” pie isn’t necessarily an easy task.

Lucky for my immediate family members, this year I chose some of the fruitiest — and creamiest — goodness of all: Resist: Tangerine Smoothie Milkshake IPA!

This Milkshake IPA sips down like a melted scoop of vanilla-tangerine ice cream, wrapped in a cozy 7.2% ABV.

And, it comes from the treat-masters at The Brewing Projekt, who you may have heard of — they made Food and Wine’s list of 19 Craft Breweries Worth Going Out of Your Way For.

This time around, I’m pretty sure everybody will agree that I’ve totally nailed my Thanksgiving contribution. Finally.

I wanted to like this one very badly. I’ve heard great things from a friend who has had the opportunity of trying this one. I can’t say I was able to force myself to like it though. To me it was kinda just a Blue Moon with an orange slice for $7 a can. The brewing projekt is one of my top fav breweries so I’m quite disappointed to say this.

Most unique IPA I've ever had. It's like a mix of an IPA with the thick fruitiness of a smoothie.

First milkshake IPA so nothing to compare it to in the style but: first sip was a turn off and thought I wouldn’t make it through the glass. Realized it was mostly head that I first sipped so I went in for another try and liked it a bit more. Swirled the end of the can before adding it to the glass once the head calmed down and it made an improvement. By the third sip I was hooked. There is a complexity here I was not expecting and generally don’t find in sweet beers. The citrus tartness adds a brightness that balances the sweetness as well as the creaminess of the lactose and the hops kind of play against the real citrus flavor while also binding it all together. My wife is a hop hound and generally not into sweet beers but she couldn’t get enough of this one either.

This is what I expect from a milkshake dessert IPA — the orange smell is like fresh oj as soon as I opened it — this is for any orange tangerine lover— the sweetness is not to much and has a smooth vanilla finish ... This would be amazing with steak and eggs in the morning — shit I could feel at home with a sausage McMuffin with cheese and this instead of there generic OJ — guess who’s going to McDonald’s now for breakfast

This is easily one of the best beers I’ve ever drank. You get all the flavors or tangerine to vanilla to the slight hop of an ipa. Perfect for a dessert beer, would definitely purchase more.

True milkshake ! Very smooth , distinct tangerine citrus not overbearing(perhaps for some) Taste of hops, sweet but good balance and nice deep color. Good from the start sad when finished. No assumptions, Creamsicle!

This was super refreshing! I’m not too much of a beer person (I’m learning to be because of my hubby and my brother) but this reminded me of a sweet tangerine mimosa. I wanna drink it for breakfast. Every. Dang. Day. The bitterness of the IPA was not too overpowering for me too!

UPDATED: I had the 2nd can. Brought that one up a few degrees.. Let it sit out of the fridge about 15 mins.. Way better experience! All the flavors blended together well. Smooth and enjoyable. Updating stars from 2.2 to 4. First can: I really wanted to like this one. I heard such great thing. It was very smooth. Nice citrus aroma. Tasted as if I was eating pure orange rinds and tossing the fruit part.

Nice tangerine aroma from the glass. However, that same tangerine creates a bitter aftertaste on the finish. It’s a good beer, but I was hoping it would live up to the hype. In my opinion, it does not.

To me, this is nearly a perfect MIPA. It's not heavily tart or overly sweet. The tangerine is present mixed with a layer of smooth. Light fruit flavor, some hops just barely poke through, and great flavor, like the Creamsicle ice cream Popsicles.

A perfect compliment to their Orange Dreamsicle Resist. The ultra sweet tangerine completely masked the +7 alcohol content. The smooth vanilla ice cream finish polished it off definitively.

Daily corona battle. Over it edition. This is tangerine syrupy, solid vanilla. Not sure it it was purée or syrup, but it has that orange crush fake vibe to me that I don’t love.
