A Note on This Beer
Five years ago, GABF Gold-winning barrel experts The Lost Abbey released one of the rarest ever collections of beer: The Ultimate Box Set. With only 450 bottles of each in existence, only a few lucky collectors got to try Track #11 - The Devil Went Down To Georgia, a bourbon barrel-aged beer made with peaches -- until now.
Now this peachy devil’s back -- The Devil Went Down To Georgia Bourbon Barrel Aged Ale has been resurrected. This 12.5% ABV song and dance is Southern Hospitality on steroids, brewed with real peaches and black tea to the tune of an outstanding 4.22 score on Untappd.
Built upon The Lost Abbey’s Angel’s Share, the Devil is inspired by the Vern, a refreshing Southern cocktail of whiskey and sweet peach tea. Lost Abbey’s version is decidedly more luxurious, taking the dark fruitiness of a boozy Barleywine with the nectarous sweetness of peaches. Aromas of 100-proof Maker’s Mark and caramelized crumble topping rise from the glass. Bourbon and vanilla notes hit the tongue, quickly followed by a touch of peach sweetness that transitions into spicy hints of strong iced tea.
Boozy, sweet, intense, and oh so smooth, Devil Went Down To Georgia epitomizes why we seek out The Lost Abbey for barrel perfection every single time. You won’t need a fiddle to beat this Devil in a duel, but after a glass, you may find yourself playing air violin and stumbling through a karaoke session that would make Charlie Daniels proud. Run boys, run!
