A Note on This Beer
Only 500 people chosen by lottery got to drink the barrel-aged brews in The Lost Abbey’s Ultimate Box Set. Outside of trades, very few were lucky enough to try the #6 Ranked Quad Ale in the World on BeerAdvocate. Thankfully we snagged a limited stash of the 14% ABV, cinnamon, raisin, and chile pepper infused Track #8 - The Number of the Beast.
Aged in bourbon barrels and based on Lost Abbey’s GABF Gold-winning Judgement Day, this 4.34 BeerAdvocate-rated Quad tastes like an oatmeal raisin cookie possessed by whiskey.
Boozy-spiced aromas flow into the nose with caramel-drenched dried fruit and shaved coconut haunting the palate. There’s a zing of spice in the finish, but the heat is tamed by the blissful release of bourbon. The 14% ABV is so well-integrated, it showcases the top-shelf vanilla-caramel flavors of the bourbon barrels with only a mirage of boozy heat.
The Lost Abbey rarely re-releases the highly collectible members of their Ultimate Box Set, so finally trying The Number of the Beast is cause for celebration. We’re not saying we made a deal with the devil to wrangle this #6 Quad in the World, but…. You should harness the boozy power of this dark demon before it retreats back into the shadows from whence it came.
Rated 4.34 on BeerAdvocate, #6 Ranked Quad Ale; 4.29 on Untappd
