A Note on This Beer
New York’s Plan Bee is only three-years-young but their hyperlocal, small-batch brews are already making an impression in the craft community. USA Today called their dedication to quality “the closest thing to tasting a sense of NY terroir than anything else available on the market.”
By using only locally sourced ingredients — like regionally-grown blueberries and 100% wild yeast extracted from honey raised in their own bee hives — they stand out for beers like today’s 4.29 UT rated Tulsi Blue Oak Aged Sour Wild Ale.
Fresh blueberry juice mixes with locally-grown holy basil, which lends botanical aromas of eucalyptus and aloe vera. The first sip is awash in tart berries and swimming in sweet juice while oak-aging mellows Tulsi Blue’s mouth-puckering profile to a more refreshing tartness. Its finish is biscuity and bready, like a spiced blueberry pie fresh from the oven. It's big 9.7% ABV is masterfully disguised and each sip reveals new farm fresh flavors only grown in New York.
Last year, Tavour members couldn’t get enough of Tulsi Blue’s herbaceous berry bite — they scored it an impressive 4.23! Plan Bee’s tiny taproom opened this past June and before that, fans could only get bottles at their local farmers market. Now their 100% New York brews are so popular, they can be found in bottle shops all over The Big Apple.
