A Note on This Beer
My Great Aunt Cynthia lived by one rule. Always find time to “treat yo self.”
And, let me tell you, this limited release from the GABF award winners at Smog City Brewing is a special treat, indeed. Even by Aunt Cynthia’s standards!
These California brewmasters pack their brand new batch of Type O Positive Barrel-Aged Sour Blonde Ale with 30lbs per barrel of fresh boysenberries and 3 grades of lavender. Then, they age all of its floral, nectarous goodness in white wine barrels for 18-36 months to generate lavish layers of crisp Chardonnay complexity.
Every slick sip packs a punch of succulent mixed-berry flavors, complemented by soft hints of white grapes, lush lavender, and earthy whispers of oak. On the finish, the palate’s greeted by the satisfyingly lip-puckering bite Sour fans love.
Not to mention, every batch of Type O Positive generates buzz and excitement. California locals are well aware: on release day, you can expect a (socially distant) line — because this one only comes around one, MAYBE two times a year!
And, how could I forget Aunt Cynthia’s 2nd rule to abide by: “Never, ever, let some other guy grab all the good stuff before you do.”
Trust me, she’s not wrong when it comes to this release! I, for one, will be snagging some Smog City goodness while I can.
