Equilibrium co-founder and head brewer Pete Oates might seem like a mad scientist when he brings a new batch of brews to life. After all, he is an actual scientist. And he’s got a Ph.D. from MIT to prove it. Before releasing his first brew to the public back in 2017, Pete spent years as an engineer, working to bring clean water to folks all over the world. He’s worked on projects in Haiti, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and at home in New York state. On the weekends, he spent his time exploring the Northeast’s best breweries. When he finally turned his big brain and vast knowledge to brewing, magic happened — although, Pete would call it science. And you can taste it in every sip of Equilibrium’s Hazy IPAs like MC2, Pales Ales like Photon, and Porters like Mobius.
